EXCESS FLOW VALVES ( EFV'S )


DESCRIPTION

The IPS VALVOMATIC® range of EFV's are self contained, self actuated safety devices,

installed in existing or new pipelines/hoses for the purpose of safety and protection

against loss or spillage of the pipeline media ( gas or liquid ) in emergency situations.

 

EFV's are a mechanical valve, biased towards the open position.

They are factory pre-set (via the internal spring force), to close at higher than normal flow rate. 

This flow rate is referred to as the "Cut-Off" flow rate.

Under normal flow rate conditions, the valve remains in the open position (see Figure 1),

offering minimal flow resistance (pressure differential across the valve).

 

Should the flow rate through the valve exceed the pre-set "Cut-Off" flow rate

(due to downstream pipeline/hose/component fracture, rupture or failure),

the EFV automatically closes and stops the flow (see Figure 2).

Resetting a closed valve to the open position is achieved by equalizing pressures across the valve. Three resetting options are available:
